Project Status: Complete

Hard to believe it has been an entire year since I began Project Photo 365: yup, one photo a day for the last year!

Of all of the lessons learned, I think appreciating the small things in life was the most important. On many days, the project made me stop and think about what special thing about my day should be captured in pictures. So today, I took a walk around campus to appreciate the fall leaves that I have been admiring lately.







For fun, I might just continue the picture a day and make it tradition!...Now that I have my new camera to play with :)

things to be excited about...

I haven't posted much lately, sorry. To be honest, it hasn't really been a great week. Nothing terrible, just a bit of a lul (is that a word?)! But, I will share some things that I am excited about:

1) I'm excited for the sunny but cool weather in store for us this weekend -- hopefully, we'll get to go for a boat ride
2) Weekend begins in less than 1/2 hour (yahoo)
3) I checked my paypal account last night and discovered that I had almost enough money to buy the new camera I have been drooling over (or should I say lusting after?), so...I bought it! Can't wait for it to arrive!!!!!
4) Looking forward to the debate tonight
5) Next week, October 1st, marks the one year mark for Project Photo 365. I haven't been perfect, but am glad I stuck with it!
6) Tyler and I are going to spend a weekend in Yakima in 3 weeks (wine tasting!)
7) Fall leaves are so beautiful, I can't wait for my new camera to take pictures of them!
8) I am excited to visit Auburn this weekend, it seems like such a long time since I have been 'home'. I miss Princess Buttercup and the whole fam :)

Sister night

The start of a new tradition: sister night out. Becca took me up to the Skagit Valley Casino to see Vince Mira in concert, the 16 year old Johnny Cash! He sounds just like him, I swear! Mom and dad treated us to a hotel room at the resort, as well as a gift card to enjoy a fabulous dinner and drinks. We swam in the beautiful pool and got all dressed up for a night out.



Of course, we also had to pre-funk! Feel free to make fun of Becca's choice of beer :)

The concert was fun; Vince has his young innocence but his voice is so mature. After the concert, we danced the night away -- country, polka, and a bit of rock and roll -- at the casino. Fun, fun, fun -- thanks Becca ~ we'll definitely have to do it again :)

garden wedding

We attended a beautiful wedding at Jardin del Sol in Snohomish on Saturday. Tyler's coworkers were a fun group to hang out with. The garden setting was perfect for the lovely weather.


I realize that I didn't get any great photos of the bride and groom, sorry!


A few unique ideas: having the guests sign a platter instead of a guest book & a candy assortment with to go boxes for party favors.

Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival

Tyler and I enjoyed the fireworks at the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival on Saturday evening.

Due to the fact that the barge was close to the shore of the state park, we felt like we were up close and personal with the show. It was fantastic!

Labor Day R&R

Tyler and I headed up to Lake Goodwin for some R & R at the cabin. We listened to polka records, floated the lake in the rubber raft, picked and ate huckleberries, BBQ'd, played guitar, drank framboise floats, and got lots of rest. What a fun weekend!

p.s. Amysita, you will see that I am curled up on the couch with my most favorite possession which, thanks to you, is warmer and cozier than ever!

Back to reality

Here's a run down of life since vacation: 1) at work, I have been kept very busy with the new fall quarter students. my partner in crime, nadeje, left for vacation right after I did, so it has been quite lonely but thank goodness it is a busy season for us. 2) we visited with neighbors at the pool party last weekend. 3) it has been nice to catch up with friends. Lynne and I met at Rosita's (yummmmm), Karlie and Jordan invited Fisch and I over to celebrate Fisch's birthday (she is now a wise 27 year old just like me), I went to Moe Bar with some folks from the Reg Office for Happy Hour, and am looking forward to more visits with friends this week. 4) I got in my first accident, but it was while riding the bus not in my car. thank goodness, no one was seriously hurt! a pickup truck cut the bus off on a freeway on-ramp and the bus rear-ended the truck. phew, glad we got out of there with just some bumps and bruises. 5) headed down to auburn to help with packing and combing through all of the junk, I mean stuff, in the house. Becca and Levi will move in with mom and dad soon to prepare for their likely move to coeur d'alene in March for Becca's internship. mom and dad will likely move within the next few years, move date was just pushed back, but glad they are getting an early start on sorting and purging. 6) I really am enjoying the rain and cool weather that we have had recently, although it doesn't always make riding the bus very fun. 7) watched the democratic national convention and was inspired by the amazing life stories and inspiration for change.

Berkeley

Last but not least on the Goin' Coastal trip, we visited cousin Gary and walked around UC Berkeley and Telegraph Avenue. It was nice to see such a historic campus. Here are a few pictures of the scenery:


Of course, the visit with Gary would not be complete without Ms. Jarrah! She was very happy to see us :)

All in all, I can't say enough positive things about our trip, that's why I am only now getting through all of the posts :)
