He has a name!

I apologize for the delayed post, I'm in Missoula at a conference this week and last weekend was hectic. Horsey has a name...and it is...Rocky! He is over a week old now. Here is a slideshow of some pics which you might like to see :)

Jesuit MBA Service Day

Tomorrow SU will hold its annual Jesuit MBA Service Day at a local high school. I was blessed with the opportunity to serve on the planning committee this year which was a lot of work, but fun overall. Thanks to Tyler, we have this cool logo! This day of service is a nation-wide effort amongst MBA programs to promote giving back to our communities. Should be fun, weather is looking good, we have matching t-shirts and a pizza feed planned for afterwards...what could be better?!

baby boy

Strawberry is a wonderful mom, but we already knew this. The baby boy is doing well, it's hard to imagine that a little over 24 hours ago, he was still in his momma's tummy. He is very big, lots of legs. Very soft, cute whiskers, quite tame, strong...and adorably cute. We'll keep you in suspense on the name for a day or so until it has been finalized. Here are more pictures to share, he spent a fair amount of the day outside with his momma.

lovin Long Beach

In definite need of a get-away, Tyler and I headed to Long Beach Friday morning and enjoyed the fabulous weather. We hiked around Cape Disappointment State Park, ate a picnic lunch, visited two lighthouses and the interpretive center, and enjoyed the day. We logged over 18,000 steps on the pedometer. There was so much to see in that park that we could've spent another day there, but we were ready for some relaxation. We stayed at a super cute bungalow near the boardwalk and beach. Highly recommend these bungalows for your next get-away! The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing in the jacuzzi tub, eating excellent seafood, playing poker dice, sleeping, walking around the town and enjoying new sights. This was our first vacation with Tyler's iphone and let me tell ya, it made a world of difference! Check out my pix...probably more than you ever wanted to see :)


To finish off the weekend, we celebrated Easter in Auburn with the Hauck and Lujan families. Quite fun and tasty, as always. Hope you all had a lovely Easter!

Still no baby

As you can imagine, we are anxiously awaiting the foal. Poor Strawberry is as well, Big Mama is definitely the name for her right now. Dad talked to the vet who indicated that a lot of foals are late this year. Once we hit 365 days, we might have reason to worry. But, in the meantime we should just sit tight and hope for it to come soon. We thought we had all of the tell-tale signs but apparently not. So, the vet's original estimate of April 4 has passed. Now we are at 354 days I think, so hopefully in the next week or 10 days.

Getting out there!

In case you haven't heard or experienced it, the weather in Seattle has been absolutely glorious these last few days! We discovered a new trail in Bellevue on Saturday, complete with a stream and waterfall. Refreshing!


And on Sunday, we headed out for a hike which was quite lovely. We drove out to the middle fork of the snoqualmie river, only to find the road closed...but headed back to twin falls and enjoyed the scenery once again! Interesting how different it is from October.





So there it is! Loving the springtime weather :)


...and to follow up on our lovely big mama Strawberry...the foal has not yet arrived! Hoping and praying that it will be here soon (possibly tonight)!!!

happy birthday, Nadeje!

We celebrated Nadeje's birthday in style at Maximilien's in the Market on Saturday evening.





Great food and great atmosphere, definitely a good place to celebrate!

If you remember from this announcement, Strawberry is going to have a baby very soon! Dad's guess of March 26th was obviously off and the vet's date of April 4th is looking more realistic. We are closely watching the barn camera but the tell-tale signs that labor is near haven't appeared yet, so according to my dad last night, we have another 3 days at least. Enough about the date, we need a name!
Horses typically have a barn name and a registered name. The mama Strawberry's barn name is Strawberry (duh Laura) and her registered name is Foreman's Golden Moon. Ricki is the dad's barn name and his registered name is Ricki's Golden Star. Any suggestions for what the foal name should be?
