Redhawks B-ball!

Emily and Todd met us for dinner and a Redhawks game last Saturday.  For dinner, we enjoyed Indian food at Chutney's, one of our favorite Indian restaurants!  Check it out next time you're in lower Queen Anne.  I had eggplant bharta, a meal I could eat 3 times a day and never get sick of, it seems.  :)

It was great to catch up with Emily and Todd.  They may have even talked us into going camping next summer!  Oh Lordy.  Good thing it will be near Leavenworth because the beautiful scenery will distract me from not having heat and a comfortable bed. 

On to the b-ball game.  It was *amazing*!  Y'all know I love my Redhawks, they are so exciting to watch.  And even more exciting when they actually win.  Whawhoo!  I got to test out my new camera!

The new camera has high def video apparently.  Check it out!  This play, at the end, gets really good!  Cervante Burrell played an incredible game!

I should also say that the two best parts of the game were the dude sitting in front of us who you hear commenting in the video (he was yelling and "directing" the game the whole time!) and Todd's "short" joke!!!!

visitors!

We have been blessed with lots of visitors this summer. Cousin Kari travelled all the way from Baker, MT with hubby Bruce and baby Raylee (7 months…super cute/sweet/loving/all that good stuff). We hopped on the Sounder Train and attended a Mariners game, hoping the M’s would pull of a victory but got the worst of the worst! They played very poorly against the Yankees, but hey…at least I got to admire my former love, A-Rod. AND Raylee enjoyed her first M’s game. I got a polish dog and kettle/caramel corn mix, so I was a happy camper too.

Another first for Raylee was hiking. We visited Snoqualmie Falls and Twin Falls.

School spirit

Last week, at the final Redhawk men's basketball home game, Nadeje and I attended a pre-game party to show our school spirit.  Lucky us, we met Rudy!

The game was amazing.  Largest crowd of the season, nearly 5,000 packed Key Arena!  The tribute to the senior players made me cry and the stellar teamwork was impressive!  Coach Dollar's blog documents more details about their tremendous season.  SU is the first team to have a winning record in their first season of Division 1 play and by next weekend, we should know whether we are eligible for a post season tournament.

11.19.09 was an eventful day! As you can see, I'm behind on telling you about it (sorry)! We celebrated Andrew's upcoming entry into the world of fatherhood with a Seattle Sounders themed baby shower in the Registrar's Office. The games and photo guessing were quite entertaining...not to mention the delicious cupcakes!!

That same day also happened to be the SU Redhawks Mens Basketball Home Opener at the Key Arena. The Key was dedicated as the Elgin Baylor SU home court, in honor of Elgin's time as an SU Chieftain back in the day. We enjoyed a pre-game reception and the game itself which was an edge of your seat nail biter.

Go Seahawks!

Remember Dad and Levi's birthday? Well, their gift was Seahawks tickets and last weekend, the big game finally arrived. We'd never been to a pro football game before (except Levi who went to a game in the kingdome I believe)...so this was new and exciting.

The weather held out after a few very stormy days. We had a lot of fun cheering and taking in the pre-game festivities which you miss out on when watching on TV.
Loyal Seahawks fan and veteran raising the 12th man flag! Becca and I cried...can't you see the proud look in his eyes, you might recall a similar emotional moment we had at our last mariners game with the rally fries!




Our seats were no joke in the very last row of the 300 level...true nose bleed seats...but it was a wonderful view!

Best of all, the Seahawks won! It was a very rough start, but they came back strong and with lots of excitement! Yahoo!

I'll be taking a blogging hiatus again for a bit as I head out this weekend for my second annual silent retreat. Very much looking forward to it and to some moments of peace!

It all started when I left work early on Friday! Whawhoo! It was a long week, so I headed down to Auburn to relax. I made cookies with dad, dinner with mom, visited with Becca, Levi and Isaac and hung out with the animals.

On Saturday, we headed out for breakfast and costco shopping. Later in the day was the annual Battle in Seattle Central Washington University (Tyler's alma mater) Football game at Qwest Field...this year with a new opponent: Western Oregon University. Unfortunately, WWU's football team was cut in the budget cuts so WOU stepped up to the plate. I guess a new rivalry has begun. This was my third Battle in Seattle experience, here is 2008 and 2007! (I didn't realize I had been blogging for so long!)

It was a crazy game. Central played very poorly in the first half and didn't score at all...at half time they were down 21-0. A new team stepped out on the field for the second half it seems. Central scored 23 unanswered points including a down to the wire field goal to win it. Lots of action!
The final score was 23-21!

I tried out for the cheer squad after the game, not! :)

Today, Tyler and I visited the Arboretum for some fresh air and beautiful scenery. Fall colors are in full swing, as you can see!







Now time for a little ice cream and a lot of sleep to get ready for the week ahead! I'll be pet sitting in West Seattle most of the week, and attending Carly and Andy's wedding next Saturday...so looking forward it!
