A walkabout

Last week at lunch, I took a walk to enjoy the sunshine. Lucky for you, I brought my camera with so you can partake in the beautiful campus scenery.

Sunday fun…

I was blessed to have a nice lunchtime visit with Noah, Sam, Amy, Jen, and Mercy on Sunday. Noah is growing like a weed (sorry no pictures) and I am pretty sure that he will soon surpass the short ones in his life (not to mention names)! Baby Samuel was very fun to meet. No worries, Jen, my arm was only sore for a few hours after holding him!

After our visit, I met up with Becca and saw Sex and the City. A good movie, true to the show! Of course, its hard not to laugh at all of the ridiculousness and cry at the ups and downs of their relationships! So, if you liked the show and haven’t seen the movie, get on out there and go see it (haha, enough boss-i-ness for the day, I learned it from Noah).

Happy Father's Day!

What a beautiful day to celebrate a wonderful father. I met up with the fam in Auburn this morning for breakfast at Oh Ryan's and although our time together was short, we had a great morning!

Happy Father's Day, dad!

p.s. dearest Becca, aren't you glad I opted out of including the picture of you?! :)

Celebrating our graduates!

The much anticipated graduation party and commencement activities have passed. Phew! As I sit here in the sunshine with a glass of wine to reflect on the weekend, I of course can't help but relive the excitement of completing my masters last year. It was such a fun time and I felt so blessed to have the support of my loved ones. My dad captured the best photo of them all...

But, enough about me :) Yesterday afternoon, we celebrated the graduates of the business school by hosting a reception in the Paccar Atrium of the Pigott building. My favorite part of the planning was decorating, of course! With flowers from the market, choice decor, and excellent food, a great time was had by all.

In addition to decorating, my very important job was to present gifts to the graduates. What a fun job!

Today, after celebrating fathers day, I attended commencement in a new fashion. In previous years, I played a behind the scenes role with the Registrar's Office, attending the information desk, helping graduates put hoods on, lining them up, etc. This year, I sat on stage with the faculty and staff. It was a fun, new experience. Thank goodness for my partner in crime, Nadeje, who provided much entertainment. We make a great team as Albers graduate student advisors!

Props to Andrew and the Commencement Committee for planning another successful event!

Interesting

Dear readers, I haven't been a very inspiring blogger lately, sorry! I felt the need to share this. Thanks, mom, for forwarding this newsletter to me!...

Whole food often has a pattern that resembles a body organ or physiological function; this pattern acts as a sign as to the benefit the food provides the eater:

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye...and science shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the neo-cortex. We now know that walnuts help develop over 3 dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Eggplant, Avocadoes and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats 1 avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight and prevents cervical cancers.

Grapefruits, Oranges, and other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like body cells. Today's research shows that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.

Good reason to eat your veggies! :)

It isn't about winning or losing...

...It's how much fun we had! Lynne invited me to share excellent (and free) Mariner's tickets with her last night. We enjoyed our 5th row, first base line seats, right near the ball girl! It was actually a great game against the Angels and the Mariners were close to pulling off a win.

Feelin' the love <3

Friday was the annual faculty and staff appreciation event at SU! I was recognized for 5 years of service as a staff person. Hard to believe it has been 5 years since I graduated. We in the Albers graduate programs department sure had a lot of celebrate: Nadeje and I are at 5 years, Mary (my boss) is at 20 years, and Bill (the faculty MBA director) is at 35 years! I left the day (we got out at 2:45!) feeling grateful to be a part of the SU community! Here's to many more years of service :)

A good weekend!

Last week was filled with late nights at work, so the long weekend allowed me to catch up on much needed rest! In addition to rest, I enjoyed some shopping, family bonding time, a BBQ, a haircut, planning for Tyler and I's summer vacation, and home improvement projects! Phew!
